Job Description :
** MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE DAIRY INDUSTRY **RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review microbiology test results daily and direct further investigation of high counts. Review load out data and double-check that all loads are within specifications. Review list of any out-of-spec product with the Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager. Review all butter product Certificates of Analysis (C of A's).
  • Check the butter room department daily. Check employee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Review daily audit reports. Assist Quality Assurance with all butter audits.
  • Check the wastewater facility daily. Review daily reports as required.
  • Review Clean-In-Place (CIP) records daily. Conduct random equipment checks with the chemical account representative.
  • Monitor butter production throughout the shift and ensure employee compliance with GMPs, sanitation, and safety. Provide training as needed. Conduct annual GMP and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training.
  • Verify that all butter room equipment is in good working condition and that all preventative maintenance is performed on a scheduled basis.
  • Act as a backup for the Plant Manager as directed by Management.
  • Serve as a member of the Food Safety Team and the Food Quality Team.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and supervise employees in the butter room, including discipline, hiring, and firing.
  • Review on-the-job training reviews.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training.
  • Oversee adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee scheduling of management, employees, and temporary labor.
  • Review timesheets, manage overtime, and approve payroll.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and persist until a solution is found.
  • Commitment to working safely and following all safety procedures, including the use of safety equipment.
  • Willingness to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with upper management daily.
  • Experience in leadership, team development, coaching, and/or teaching.
  • Strong math and statistical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills for data input, report writing, and program tracking.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Dairy, or Food Science and four years of experience in a plant leadership role in a dairy or food manufacturing facility is strongly desired.
