(In accordance with current spending restrictions, if the appointment is an internal promotion, the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever higher).DESCRIPTIONThe position is with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of General Counsel.The work hours are 8am-5pm, M-F. The preferred candidate should have experience with drafting correspondence such as legal pleadings, orders, judgements, and other documents in accordance with the needs of the office. An Attorney will give directives on specific tasks.Experience, Inclusive of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys, including researching and gathering information by preparing statistical reports, and other legal documents. Maintain calendars, schedule appointments and meetings.Make Travel arrangements and submit required travel documents. This position must comply with Florida Statute section 215.422, Prompt Payment ompliance Law.The preferred candidate must have the ability to schedule court hearings, type motions and notices. Be trainable in maintaining case tracking databases for Children in Need of Services (CINS) and Families in Need of Services (FINS). Ensures all filing is completed in a timely manner. Keep attorneys updated on calendars. Screen calls and route appropriately. Collect incoming mail, date stamp, distribute and process accordingly. Maintain office supplies, make sure office equipment is always operating properly. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSThe preferred candidate should have experience with drafting correspondence such as legal pleadings, orders, judgements, and other documents.SPECIAL NOTESCandidates must successfully complete a drug screening and background screening prior to employment.All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background checks (state, local, and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions.DJJ participates in E-VERIFY (Employment Eligibility).When identified on a position description, a valid driver's license is required.
