JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Hours: Monday through Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Job Summary:
The manager will functionally oversee all the business operations performed in the Pre-Access Center. Overview of the business operations include all pre-access processes to ensure a smooth entry of patients to departmental services while maintaining timely and accurate business information to guarantee payments of services provided. The manager will lead the daily operations of all assigned divisions in collaboration with the Director of Revenue Cycle Management. Responsible for managing, planning and organizing all department functions including staffing, staff development/training, purchasing, budgeting and implementing policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with other managers, ancillary departments, patient care areas, referring hospitals and physician offices, to ensure all pre-access functions provided within assigned area are accurate, complete, and timely. The manager is responsible for process improvement, maximizing efficiency, and ensuring positive results related to employee and external customer satisfaction. Manager will have coding knowledge, authorizations, benefits, and be responsible for employee perception scores.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Three or more years of previous management experience in a healthcare position preferred. (Experience can be substituted with degree in Healthcare Administration and degree can be substituted with an abundance of relevant experience.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Extensive experience working with hospital information systems and proficiency in computer office applications. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and diagnostic testing and its application in healthcare. Working knowledge of registration procedures, business office and clinical departments. Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimum to no supervision. Ability to logically analyze problems and effect solutions. Knowledge and understanding of insurance billing procedures, coding, hospital financial policies, third party regulations, federal requirements, pertinent contract requirements and limitations related to Pre-Access and Patient Access. Demonstrated ability to manage within a budget sufficient to analyze trends and make recommendations. Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with Physicians, Peers, Vice Presidents, and Support Staff. Excellent decision-making, delegating, communications, and technical writing skills required. Must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to create and maintain an environment of teamwork, professionalism, customer satisfaction, high performance, and mutual respect of others.
Preferred Qualifications: AAHAM, HFMA, ACHE, coding certification, preferred or other relevant certifications preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
