SUMMARY Primary responsibility for the Director of Service is to oversee and manage the Service Support Managers. Monitors the development and improvement initiatives for all service departments throughout the organization. Seeks to develop integrated solutions for more streamlined and efficient processes and formulate partnerships across the company to deliver best practices and solutions to service management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year College or University; seven years related Service Manger experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic computer knowledge required.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage the activities of the Service Support Managers.
  • Ensure companywide compliance with all Hunter Truck processes and procedures.
  • Drive timely recommendations for service employee wages as well as labor rates.
  • Work with Field Service to ensure good coordination between field and branch level repair activities.
  • Work with all OEMs to create good, productive working relationships that assist Hunter Truck and its customers in obtaining the support and policy consideration deserved.
  • Drive attainment of key service metrics and overall profitability of the Hunter Truck service network.
  • Aid in the hiring and training of key service staff.
  • Work with General Managers to improve their understanding of service and the metrics in place to guide service decision making.
  • Find new market opportunities to increase service revenue potential.
  • Help to create a sales culture within service to maximize service bay profitability.
  • Be responsible to drive customer uptime by maximizing service efficiency.
  • Work with the training department to identify trends and new training needs.
  • Work with the warranty department to maximize labor and parts recovery.
  • Visit all locations on a rotating basis for general review and support of the department.
Supervise and strategically assist the Service Support Managers to build overall service department successTRAVEL REQUIREMENT
  • Up to 50% travel required, combined of local and overnights.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.All candidate offers are subject to a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
