Job Description :
Overview: The Child Care Teacher II oversees all aspects of their assigned age group and works as a team lead by mentoring other child care staff and supervising daily curriculum implementation to assure that all state and national accreditation and state licensing standards are met. -The Child Care Teacher II ensures that all parent, child and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed and facilitates interdisciplinary team collaboration. Works Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM depending upon the needs of the center. -This positions works Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM depending upon the needs of the center. -World of Care specialized child care center is designed to meet the individual needs of children who have medical conditions requiring daily nursing care and children with developmental disabilities who require multiple therapies (physical, occupational, or speech/language). -While we accept typically developing children, priority for admission is given to children who are medically fragile or developmentally delayed or disabled. -World of Care is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education and licensed by the Maryland Office of Child Care Administration. Responsibilities:
  • Mentors, directs, and oversees child care staff in room to ensure all guidelines for developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by MSDE and WOC are understood and implemented.
  • Ensures that all OCC licensing requirements, World of Care and KKI policies are understood and implemented.
  • Ensures teamwork in plan lessons, classroom strategies, therapy and educational goals for individuals and groups, and daily care plans. Uses the Creative Curriculum as a framework.
  • Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for the classroom. Responsible for understanding and integrating IFSP and IEP goals and seeks guidance as necessary.
  • Ensures that all center/classroom paperwork is completed timely (i.e. the daily log, incident reports, attendance, progress notes).
  • Ensures clear communication among all team members including substitutes so that parents/caregivers are provided with detailed information regarding their child's daily progress, needs and concerns.
  • Participates in trainings and work groups to ensure that all standards necessary to maintain or achieve national/state accreditation are being met. Maintains all documentation and records, and provides them in a timely manner to the Program Director.
  • Attends all parent conferences and parent group events, which may often occur outside of typical work hours.
  • Participates on at least one WOC program committee. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Ability to independently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.EDUCATION:
  • AA degree (or the equivalent of 48 college credits), including at least 15 semester hours of coursework in the field of early education or childhood development required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • CDA is accepted if pursuing a degree.
  • 90-hour Child Care certificate required:
  • Must have 45-hours Method and Materials and 45-hours Growth and Development. -
  • Must complete the annual clock hours required by the Office of Child Care to advance or maintain childcare credentials.EXPERIENCE:
  • Two (2) years of child care experience required.
  • Experience with special needs population preferred. Minimum pay range: USD $31,200.00/Yr. Maximum pay range: USD $47,062.00/Yr.
