At Associated Materials / Alside, your contributions will provide an immediate and lasting impact, helping us achieve what is possible.POSITION SUMMARY:The Site Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for partnering with the site operations team to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company policies and to foster a proactive EHS culture among all team members at the facility. This position works within a team of EHS professionals reporting to the EHS Director for Manufacturing, and is responsible for aligning site EHS activities to the overall company EHS vision and strategy. The Site EHS Manager is a key member of the site leadership teamKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Execute the Manufacturing Division's overall EHS strategy in line with the overall Associated Materials EHS Vision and Strategy and align site safety objectives with business goals to enhance operational effectiveness at the site.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first EHS culture throughout the facility. Engage with executive leadership, managers and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work.
  • Lead and inspire action in dynamic and rapidly changing business conditions; drive proactive change through effective communication and leadership.
  • Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries and occupational hazards through in-depth use of data analytics and reporting.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to managers and all facility-level staff regarding EHS compliance. Lead the site in maintaining compliance with all operational permitting and required monitoring activities.
  • Manage site EHS KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors and drive operational accountability throughout the site.
  • Lead cultural change to embrace new and improved EHS programs and policies within the site.
  • Drive robust incident reporting mechanisms, lead team in conducting thorough incident investigations, and identify causal factors and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence at the site.
  • Systematically lead site team in assessment of EHS risks and implementation of risk mitigation measures to drive continuous EHS improvement at the site.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with federal, state and local authorities (e.g. OSHA, EPA, fire department, etc.) on behalf of the site.
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EHS training programs.
  • Implement risk control measures, safety protocols and engineering controls to minimize employee exposure to hazards. Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate and support site safety teams to foster employee engagement and accountability for safe working practices at the site.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with AMI's policies, standards and procedures.
  • Maintain timely and accurate EHS data reporting on behalf of the site, and train site operational partners to utilize EHS data management systems.
  • Oversee EHS review and approval of contractors for the facility, as well as ensure safe working practices of contractors while on site.
  • Lead site team in EHS review of all operational and equipment changes prior to implementation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or other technically related field.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), preferred.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations and reporting requirements, as well as safety industry best practices.
  • Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Resilient self-starter who can operate autonomously and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering on commitments, and completing projects on-time, within budget and of high quality.
  • Excellent data and analytical skills, and technical experience with EHS data management systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success with influencing without operational control.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma training/qualification preferred (green belt/black belt).
Work EnvironmentThe atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant and office space. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Frequent use of company communication devices are required such as a computer, phone, and other office electronics.
