Job Description :
Under the general supervision of the Senior Billing and Compliance Manager, the Billing Specialist is responsible for financial and administrative functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency in invoicing and collecting grant/contract receivables. Additionally, they will prepare and monitor grant/contract expenditure reporting as well as assist in recognizing budget spending and the need for modifications. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare assigned monthly/quarterly vouchers to funders
  • Maintain voucher/reporting schedule for assigned grants and contracts
  • Review reasonableness and allowability of expenses charged to grants and contracts
  • Audit preparation for internal and external auditors of grants and contracts
  • Maintain grant portfolios in audit-ready condition
  • Assist divisions with budget preparation
  • Conduct regular general ledger analysis for programs related to sponsored awards
  • Work with Payroll and Accounts Payable to gather data related to voucher preparation
  • Review general ledgers and prepare any necessary journal entries
  • Review and reconcile cash receipts/client contributions
  • Maintain templates for monthly budget to actual analysis
  • Prepare sub-contractor agreements and monthly invoices
  • Review aged receivables
  • Respond to inquiries from funders, colleagues, and others promptly
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of related experience is required
  • Experience with NYC agencies preferred (DEP, DFTA, HPD, DOE, HRA, DYCD, etc.)
  • Experience with NYS agencies preferred (DOE, DOH, DOP, OASAS, OCFS, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
  • Commitment to work that supports communities that have experienced systemic oppression and bias (i.e., people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.)
Preferred Skills:
  • Associate degree or vocational school training
  • Yardi systems experience
  • Passport experience
Compensation: $65,000Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.#SONINY
