Job Overview:The Patient Support Associate is responsible for multiple functions including cleaning and maintaining all OR rooms, sub-sterile areas, and other areas within the department. The Patient Support Associate is also responsible for the inventory of supplies, and transporting patients toand from the department.The Patient Support Associate will be crossed trained to perform assigned job duties in the main Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Scheduling and assignment will be determined by perioperative staffing needs at the discretion of perioperative leadership.Qualifications:Required:* High School diploma or equivalentPreferred:* Knowledge of inventory control techniques* Hospital housekeeping experience preferredScheduling Requirements:* Rotating weekends and holidays* Per DiemEssential Functions:* Assist in cleaning emergency spills observed or upon request* Assists with patient positioning under the direction of the RN* Assists with patient preparation. Holds limbs as directed for surgical preparation.* Cleans OR suites following procedures; disposes used supplies appropriately* Dry and wet mops floors of rooms and offices; vacuums carpets* Empties waste baskets, removes trash* Transports equipment from ancillary storage locations to OR room* Maintains inventory levels on all housekeeping supplies; stocks supplies as required in locker rooms and rest rooms* Stocks OR attire to include hats, masks, shoe covers and warm up jackets prior to start of day* Stocks warmers with blankets, sheets and solutions, rotates solutions in warmer according to policy and procedure daily and as needed* Transports patients as needed* Transports specimens to Pathology as neededAdditional Information:Choosing RWJBarnabas Health!RWJBarnabas Health is the premier health care destination providing patient-centered,high-quality academic medicine in a compassionate and equitable manner, while deliveringa best-in-class work experience to every member of the team.
