The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting the kitchen team in delivering exceptional meals.Average Hours: 35 - 40 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ingredient Preparation:- Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits.
- Portion and prepare ingredients according to recipes and menu requirements.
Food Safety and Sanitation:- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure workstations and equipment are clean and sanitized before and after use.
- Properly store food items in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
Assistance in Cooking:- Assist chefs and line cooks with basic cooking tasks, such as boiling, frying, and grilling.
- Prepare simple dishes under the supervision of chefs.
Inventory Management:- Monitor food stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen manager.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, verifying that they meet quality standards.
Equipment Maintenance:- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of kitchen tools and equipment.
Recipe Adherence:- Follow recipes and chef instructions to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
- Measure and weigh ingredients accurately.
Collaboration:- Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues.
Quality Control:- Inspect ingredients and finished products to ensure they meet quality and presentation standards.
- Report any quality issues to the chef or kitchen manager.
Adaptability:- Be flexible and ready to assist with various tasks as needed, including dishwashing or cleaning duties during busy periods.
Time Management:- Prioritize tasks to ensure all prep work is completed in a timely manner for service.

- operate hazardous tools safely and equipment such as a slicer, deep fryer, etc.
Job Qualifications:- Must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role with a valid MA driver's license;

- Strong level of comfort with basic math skills, specific to scaling recipes as needed.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and to work independently on repetitive tasks (i.e. slicing and prepping the harvest to be prepared/processed) for long periods of time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Meet any state and federal requirements for handling SNAP and HIP transactions.
Education and Experience:- A minimum of 18 years of age is required with a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is required.
- A combination of education and experience provides equivalent knowledge.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- Food Handler certification is required.
