The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather or other conditions. ** Position Summary:The Food Service Worker is responsible for working various positions on the tray line. The Food Service Worker will be responsible for correctly setting up and delivering resident meal trays. This position will also be responsible for cleaning and organizing the kitchen, including the dish machine and general kitchen areas. Position Details: Local 1199 Union FLSA Status: Non-exemptRate of Pay: $17.00Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English, follow written and verbal instructions, and complete simple computational skills
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in Food Service
Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Department Responsibilities:
  • Accurately portion, serve, set up, and deliver all resident meal trays quickly with minimum waste and in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Clean and operate equipment per departmental procedures
  • Accurately portion food items such as desserts, nourishments, hot food, cold food, bread, milk, etc.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of the tally position.
  • Assist with special events and catering as assigned.
  • Safely transport food trucks and equipment throughout the Veterans Home as required.
  • Wrap silverware
  • Scrape used resident trays of all refuse in the dish machine area and properly run dish machines.
  • Mop all floor surfaces
  • Clean and wipe food trucks, tables, and stations
  • Adhere to organization and department dress codes and time/attendance policy.
  • Follow all procedures for correct chemical distribution and labeling.
  • Must follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Responsible for Garden Café service and cleanliness.
  • Interrelate with fellow employees in the Food Service Department and other departments in LISVH.
  • Catering and Vending as assigned,
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisors
Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions
  • Support the Veterans Home and Association in maintaining a safe working environment by following departmental safety procedures.
  • Able to push/pull objects continuously using maximum effort. Able to perform motor skills such as bending, twisting, turning, turning, kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching out/up, wrist turn/torque, grasping, pinching, finger manipulation, feeling perception, fast response, continuously, and occasionally squatting.
  • Must be able to perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination continuously; able to perform body coordination of the upper and lower body continuously;
  • Must be able to give and receive verbal communications continuously. Able to read written communications continuously. Able to compose written communication occasionally.
  • Must be able to remain on feet up to 8 hours consecutively, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to concentrate on fine detail with some interruptions continuously.
  • Must remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others during the day continuously; remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others during the day continuously; remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods frequently.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable federal, state, or local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement, and standards.
