Today, AIDS Outreach Center (AOC) began as a grassroots organization responding to the HIV epidemic. Since that time, AOC has been a leader in North Texas in the fight against HIV. Annually, 42 staff members provide services and education to over 2,000 people living with HIV and prevention services to over 3,500 people in our community.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Client Services Manager, staff provides ongoing patient navigation services to persons diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and their significant family members. Duties include: the completion of helping clients move through the complexities of the healthcare system, providing referrals and follow-up for needed services, coordinating services and advocating on behalf of each client.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and 1 year experience; or 2 years experience working in area of social services, including volunteer coordination; working knowledge of HIV/AIDS; computer literate; excellent written and verbal communication skills knowledge of grief and bereavement; knowledge of medical treatments available for HIV/AIDS; knowledge of family systems; knowledge of cultural/ethnic issues; knowledge of addiction process and behavior; knowledge of community resources; excellent written and verbal skills; participate in ongoing continuing education activities; knowledge of gay, lesbian and bisexual issues; ability to work with diverse populations; ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner; ability to effectively handle crisis/emergency situation; demonstrates a non-judgmental attitude toward clients, staff and volunteers; ability to discuss sex/sexuality issues in an appropriate manner with clients ability to adapt quickly to change; valid Texas driver's license and proven driving record.
