Food Service Assistant ManagerPay Grade: Based upon ExperiencePeriod of Employment: 12 Months FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Supervised by and/or Reports to: Director of Food ServiceGeneral Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting in the organization, preparation, cooking, and serving of food to students and adults.Essential Duties: (This list is intended solely as an illustration of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude their addition if they are similar to or a logical extension of the position.)Essential Responsibilities: • Assists the manager in organizing and delegating the work load for food service staff• Assists the manager in maintaining control of inventories and ordering supplies• Receives, inspects, stores, and inventories supplies and equipment• Estimates appropriate quantities of food and the number of staff needed to prepare assigned recipes and food items within established time constraints, ensuring that no overages/shortages occur• Directs, monitors, and assists with the preparation and serving of food in accordance with established recipes and governmental and nutritional guidelines• Assists manager in maintaining standards of work, sanitation, and safety ensuring that food items are properly stored, cooked, shipped, and served in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner• Participates in a variety of food service operations and functions as needed, including serving food, selling food, and cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas• Assists with support and implementation of Summer Feed Child and Adult Care Food Program• Oversees employee check in/check out process daily• Counts money received and prepares bank deposits when manager is absent• Responsible for opening and closing and the security of the kitchen prior to leaving for the day• Communicates effectively with all staff and administrators• Demonstrates good work habits to include punctual and regular attendance• Reports to the Food Service Manager• Performs other related duties as assigned by the SupervisorRequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with principals, school staff and administrators• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations at the level necessary for satisfactory job performance• Ability to calculate figures and amounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumeEducation or Equivalency Requirements:Minimum/PreferredEducation LevelDescription:PreferredHigh School Degree/GEDCertification/LicensesDescription:StateServSafe CertificateFirst Aid and CPRWork Experience:Equivalent to or at least:Type:Area or Field2 yearsSpecificExperience in a supervisory rolePhysical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
