- Responsible for management and performance of the Quality Management System, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Engineering functions and all related resources.
- Reports on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement, to top management.
- The management representative has the organizational freedom and unrestricted access to top management to resolve quality management issues.
- Escalate and report critical quality issues and risk to the business to senior management and other stakeholders and recommending appropriate actions and solutions.
- Identify, analyze and drive resolution of quality issues and risks that may affect the organization's reputation, operations and company profitability.
- Maintain all quality accreditations and seek new accreditations necessary to grow the business.
- Accountable for the performance and results of the quality functions and reports on key quality indicators and metrics.
- Design, implement and develop the quality systems and processes that ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
- Ensure the organization is driven to meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations for quality of products and services.
- Oversee internal and external quality audits, inspections and certifications that verify the compliance and effectiveness of the quality systems and processes.
- Learn and understand the manufacturing, engineering, planning, and sales processes at a fundamental level.
- Set goals and objectives for the quality management team and align them with the organizational strategy and culture.
- Implement and oversee the quality control, assurance and engineering activities that detect and prevent defects, errors and non-conformities in the products produced.
- Recruit, train, coach and motivate the quality staff and ensure they have the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to perform their duties.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork among the quality staff and other departments and functions within the organization.
- Address all attendance, behavior, and job performance issues in a timely manner with the objective of improving the overall performance of the Quality department. Hold employees accountable for these expectations and document all issues that arise.
- Determine adequate staffing levels for all areas. Assist in training new personnel as necessary.
- Implement and maintain continuous improvement and innovation of the quality systems and processes using tools and methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Check-Act and Kaizen.
- Ensure the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.
- Analyze customer feedback and satisfaction data and use them to improve the quality of the products and services supplied.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints and concerns related to quality and ensure that the organization follows up, resolves customer issues, and responds in a timely manner to customer requests.
- Implement and oversee the quality problem-solving and corrective action activities that address and eliminate the root causes of the quality issues and risks.
- Interpret specifications to direct lab, quality and plant personnel, providing technical support when required.
- Meet with suppliers, customers, quality representatives, or Elgiloy personnel to resolve laboratory/quality issues or problems, as required.Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or minimum of five years equivalent work experience in a related industry/field.
- Five years minimum in Quality or Engineering management.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical testing.
- Basic metallurgical knowledge or experience in a closely related metal processing industry.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills with staff, customers, suppliers and auditors.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Controlled sense of urgency to get things done.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
