Our employees receive a range of benefits including health insurance, company-paid life insurance, 401K, generous paid time-off and continuing education support!Summary: Under the direction of the Residential Manager, assists the overall operation of an Arc residence, including providing on-site supervision of direct support staff to include week nights, holidays and week-end hours based on program needs.Essential Functions:
  • Assist in the implementation of the Life Plan and Staff Action Plan as developed for each person supported by his/her family advocate and Care Coordinator.
  • Ensure that the medical needs of people supported are met by assisting with medical appointment coordination and follow up as needed.
  • Assist in the completion of accurate paperwork to maintain compliance with OPWDD requirements and agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure residential habilitation services are documented in accordance with the agency and OPWDD requirements.
  • Work under the direction of the Residential Manager for hiring, orientation and ongoing training, supervision and evaluation of all direct support staff.
  • Under the direction of the Residential Manager, schedules direct support staff, ensuring that the number and types of staff assigned are adequate to meet the needs of the individuals supported.
  • Become certified in medical administration and maintain certification on an annual basis.
  • Provide direct support services, as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring that adequate and appropriate recreational activities in the community and scheduled for people year-round.
  • Coordinate transportation as needed.
  • Ensure that the nutritional needs of individuals are met.
  • Participates in Corporate Compliance and quality assurance and improvement activities as required.
  • Demonstrates adherence to the DSP Code of Ethics & Core Competencies.
  • Support the Brand Platform of the Agency by incorporating the brand personalities - Competent, Dedicated, Professional, Caring and Innovative - throughout your daily work.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Supports best practices and changing service delivery in response to changing consumer and/or staff needs.
  • Strives for satisfaction from people served as well as employees.
  • At all times, meets or exceeds professional standards as defined by position, agency and regulatory bodies.
  • Participates in agency meetings as needed to further enhance service role and identify needs.
  • Professionally conducts self in promoting, contributing to, and implementing the mission, philosophy and policies of the Agency.
  • Interactions with people supported, their families, employees and in the community are to be respectful and demonstrate professionalism, courtesy and consideration.
  • Agency, people supported, and employee confidentiality are maintained at all times.
  • Serves on agency committees as assigned/requested.
Reporting Responsibilities: Residential ManagerSupervisory Responsibilities: Direct support staff on assigned shift.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Requires attentive listening skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and good reading abilities.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to maintain composure during emergency/conflict situations and be able to use sound judgment in decision making.
  • Ability to relate to people of different abilities, backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work independently.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
  • Be physically able to assist individuals in transferring from wheelchair to other seat when needed.
  • May be required to prevent an adult from falling, assisting an adult to his/her feet, etc.
  • Walk up and down stairs.
  • Shovel and remove snow and ice from walkways and driveways when necessary.
Working Conditions:
  • Will be required to use additional office equipment, i.e., phone, copier, fax, in addition to household appliances, i.e., washer/dryer, stove/oven, refrigerator, etc.
  • Work may require offsite travel to appointments, events, or outings.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one years' experience with individuals with I/DD
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Home Health Aide preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License with a safe driving record per agency policy.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
