Agricultural Partnership Representative
Division of Water Supply Planning
Job Summary: This is highly responsible professional work facilitating and integrating business processes and compliance in conjunction with multi-disciplinary District programs, projects and activities in support of the District's Agricultural Assistance Team.
Job duties include:
* Assist Technical Program Manager with the development and review of regulatory rules; promoting cost-share programs to help farmers implement best management practices (BMP); serve on agricultural working groups/task forces; and providing assistance to other agencies.
* Coordinate specific partnership projects with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the District's contracted mobile irrigation lab(s).
* Foster a positive interaction between growers/producers and District staff by serving as a liaison with growers/producers and promoting the Agricultural Assistance Team through speaking engagements and interactions with the agricultural community.
* Identify and implement measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the permitting process for growers/producers by focusing on eliminating unnecessary expenses, processes, and duplication.
* Educate permittees, consultants, and other agency staff about the District agricultural permit review criteria.
* Work with District staff to resolve any outstanding permit compliance issues for agricultural operations in an effort to avoid formal administrative actions.
* Serve as a point of contact for District staff on critical agricultural regulatory issues.
* Coordinate site visits with appropriate permit review staff and assist permittees with filling out applications and associated documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in agriculture, biology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, natural resources or other related field.
Experience working with agricultural producers preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly in the field and some office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Additional Details:
Starting Salary Range: $49,067.20 - $61,339.20
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
