Talascend is seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to join our client's automated production team near Mobile, AL. OVERVIEW: This Engineer provides technical support and manages automation projects in the steel mill; starting with the design and implementation of applications, databases, hardware through to the HMI systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Automation Systems Engineer is responsible for:
- Providing software configuration and customization including, but not limited to: report setup, data imports, integration, custom scripting and third-party software integrations.
- Coordinating and instructing user acceptance testing procedures with both functional analysts in the Production Systems team and end users of developed solutions.
- Conducting code review to maintain code standards within the team; participating in review of own code.
- Conducting administration, development, technical support, and deployment in the existing automation system from various vendors to adapt the system to future needs.
- Working in a team-oriented environment, communicating effectively and cross-functionally with other engineers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years direct experience in system automation for manufacturing, specifically customization of electrical automation systems, preferred in steel or similar heavy industry.
- Must have experience in programming ( C#, C++) relational databases (Oracle, SQL) and SCADA/HMI (Ignition, SIMATIC WinCC or Aveva Wonderware).
- Capable of analyzing technical information and quickly learning new technical skills
- Intermediate to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Demonstrates strong, analytical, and problem-solving decision-making skills
- Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
