The Nebraska Career and Technical Education team is seeking a Business, Marketing, & Management Career Field Specialist and DECA Advisor to provide statewide programmatic leadership, consultative services, and technical assistance to Nebraska schools, Educational Service Units (ESUs), teacher preparation institutions, and other educational entities related to Business, Marketing, & Management.

Office Location & Schedule: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE, with potential for some telework after an onboarding and training period, contingent upon proper agency approvals.
Essential Functions
* Provides support related to content area standards implementation, assessment of learning, professional learning, and instructional resources within Business, Marketing, & Management and other related Career & Technical Student Organizations (e.g., FBLA, DECA).
* Develops, organizes, and coordinates the process to review and revise the Nebraska Business, Marketing, and Management and Entrepreneurship education standards, providing content area expertise to schools, ESUs, and postsecondary institutions related to implementing standards.
* Develops and facilitates professional learning experiences and resources related to Business, Marketing, and Management Career & Technical Education.
* Plans and coordinates resources, activities, and state conferences for Nebraska DECA and provides training for the DECA State Officer team.
* Provides guidance and technical assistance to schools and districts on selecting and implementing high-quality, standards-aligned, instructional resources (e.g., curriculum, digital and open resources, assessment resources), and develops quality assurance processes.
* Conducts desk audits and on-site visits to monitor federal Perkins Grant recipients and provide technical assistance related to the development and implementation of grants.
* Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships and serves as liaison among state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to achieve goals of Nebraska Career & Technical Education.

Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 80% of work time spent in an office environment (e.g., state offices, home offices); the remaining 20% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools, educational service units, and other service agencies. There is also approximately twenty days of overnight travel per year.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in the field of education or related subject area, two years of successful preK12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school, or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 79-807.
NOTE: A Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21 must be possessed by the time the candidate begins employment at the Nebraska Department of Education and an active certificate maintained while in the Education Specialist position.
Substitution: Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent Master of Arts in Teaching per 92 NAC 21, and four years of teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 79-807.
Preferred Qualifications: Coursework in business, marketing, and management or related area and previous experience as chapter advisor of DECA or FBLA, writing standards and aligning standards to local curriculum, and with CTE related grants (e.g., Perkins).
