Arbuckle Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Boasting a new hospital in 2011, AMH has a 24-hour emergency room, which is staffed by ER physicians and designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. The hospital serves over 12,000 patients annually. AMH treats over 7,000 emergencies each year including heart attack and stroke patients. The hospital has four admitting physicians including three employed physicians and a contractor. Additionally, AMH operates a full-service clinic on campus, which as 15 exam rooms, two physicians, and three nurse practitioners. Clinic hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday to Thursday and 7am to 5pm on Friday. The hospital is supported by a one cent county sales tax. ArbuckleMemorial Hospital has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. Thetasks or duties assigned to this job could affect the safety and health of theemployee or others SUMMARY: Plan, organize, direct, provide and evaluate care needed to maintainsafety and improve the health and wellbeing of patients through theimplementation of the nursing process. Provides oversight for all nursing careprocesses provided by other members of the nursing staff. Serve as patient advocate and be activelyinvolved in the care of the patient and support of family members. Communicate effectively for continuity ofcare among patients, families, ancillary personnel and hospital departments. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Competentin medical terminology
  • Knowledgeableabout the interventions and evaluations of drug therapy
  • Maintaindiscretion and confidentiality in communications
  • Knowledgeableabout policies and procedures regarding reporting and release of protectedhealth information (PHI)
  • Competentin clinical skills and use of medical equipment
  • Knowledgeableof Infection Control and Prevention Programs
  • Knowledgeof licensing requirements, nursing practice act, statutes and rules applicableto nursing
  • Maintaincertifications and continuing education requirements needed to perform job
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completescomprehensive assessment of inpatients upon admission and change in condition
  • Completesa focused assessment of patients each shift
  • Assuresthe completion of focused assessment throughout shift by Licensed PracticalNurses and nurse techs
  • Makespatient assignments in accordance with identified patient needs and documentedcompetencies of nursing personnel
  • Establish,implement, evaluate and document patient plan of care and services
  • Provideeducation to staff, patient and family members promoting improvements in healthcare delivery
  • Administerstransfusions of blood and blood products and patient medication administrationas needed
  • Advocatefor patient
  • Triage,assess and record patient's history, signs and symptoms
  • Evaluateand report patient status according to standardized format
  • Performpoint of care diagnostic tests, such as, EKG and glucometer readings
  • Continuallymonitor to assure medical provider's orders for the patient's care are beingcarried out
  • Informmedical provider of any changes in patient status
  • Providesoversight of nursing personnel and all clinical care provided
  • Interactwith patients, family members, medical providers and ancillary personnel on acontinuous basis
  • Carryout procedures for admitting, transferring or discharging patients
  • Knowsand complies with practice standards of the state board of nursing
  • Miscellaneousduties as assigned, requested or required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • CurrentRegistered Nurse licensure
  • EntryLevel Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • LifeSupport (BLS) certificate required upon hire
  • Successfulcompletion of the following courses:
o AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS), recommended o PediatricAdvanced Life Support (PALS), recommended o TraumaNursing Core Course (TNCC), recommended o NeonatalResuscitation Program (NRP), recommended LANGUAGE/READING SKILLS: Communicate verbally and in writing in English. REASONING ABILITY: Responds to unusual or varied situations that are not covered byexisting standards, procedures and precedents. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, ascend and descend stairs,possess ability to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls; reachwith hands and arms. Frequentlybe able to lift 25 pounds from the floor to waist level and may occasionally berequired to assist moving adult patients. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability toclearly focus vision. Specific hearingabilities using the stethoscope for breath sounds and Korotkoff sounds.
