job summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with heavy, rotating, oil-lubricated machinery, with an ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and overhaul complex rotating equipment. This position requires proficiency in reading and interpreting assembly and machining drawings and experience using various tools, machining equipment, and measurement devices.location: Chesapeake, Virginia job type: Permanent salary: $80,000 - 100,000 per year work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Provide field service technical direction in support of US Navy aircraft carrier, submarine, and other support vessels. Technical direction primarily associated with the shipboard installation and overhaul of Curtiss Wright product such as steam turbines, pumps, trip throttle valves, and electrical generators. Standard responsibilities include providing engineering oversight to key clients throughout the disassembly, inspection, complex report writing, repairs, reassembly, and testing of related equipment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul activities on complex rotating machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to rotating machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Interpret and follow assembly and machining drawings for maintenance and overhaul tasks.
  • Use tooling, machining equipment, and measurement devices effectively to support maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external customers, ensuring all inquiries and issues are addressed promptly.
  • Generate complex Word and Excel reports to document maintenance activities, findings, and recommendations.
  • Support overtime and weekend work as necessary to meet project timelines and business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, OR 10+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
  • Shipboard construction environment experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in maintenance and overhaul of complex rotating machinery, with steam turbine experience preferred.
  • Troubleshooting and technical skills, with a focus on rotating machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and machining drawings.
  • Familiarity with tooling, machining equipment, and measurement devices.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills, including the ability to create complex Word and Excel reports.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
