THE POSITION

We are excited to welcome you to District 8-0 as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, where you will be essential in supervising a construction inspection team. In this role, you will perform various technical tasks related to inspecting transportation construction projects. Your efforts will ensure quality and adherence to standards during the construction phase, playing a key role in the successful delivery of transportation projects. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will act as the lead inspector on a highway construction project with a limited variety of work operations or assist on a larger project by supervising specific operations. Your responsibilities include supervising the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure they meet contract requirements and standards. You will check cuts and fills; verify elevation grades; and oversee the placement of materials. Additionally, you will explain contract requirements to contractors and team members, guiding them on sampling, testing, and inspection methods.

You will also perform calculations and create sketches to help solve any field issues that arise. Your role involves preparing reports and maintaining necessary records, as well as participating in constructability reviews and scheduling meetings. Completing assignments on time is essential, along with compiling documentation for work order justifications; preparing and submitting work orders; and creating construction estimates. You will ensure that all materials used in the project are certified and comply with specifications.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment

+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

+ You will work closely with vendor s and work hours may change based on vendor availability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or

+ Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or

+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

+ This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
