Job Responsibilities/Duties: - International & Transport Aircraft (ITA) for Fixed Wing Aircraft has a requirement to fill a Direct Support Engineer (DSE) that has an apprentice-level understanding of Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) in:
- Technical
- Logistical
- Programmatic
- The DSE shall be able to coordinate with:
- Industry leaders and technical counterparts
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Administration (EASA) and Transport Canada (TC)
- other Government activities, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS)
- Internal Army activities to define requirements
- The DSE shall have apprentice-level knowledge in the following areas:
- Systems Engineering
- Project Management
- Acquisition
- The DSE shall have experience with aircraft avionics - including commercial and military application
- As part of the ITA effort, the DSE should be able to interact with foreign entities and state department officials in aircraft/engines/avionics and other support for foreign military sales
- The DSE shall support and participate system upgrades and modification to the following aircraft models, but not limited to - C-12, C-26, UC-35, DHC-8 and C-37:
- planning
- managing
- controlling
- coordinating system
- Duties will include development, sustainment and modification for the ITA fleet
- Monitor and review Contractor Logistics Support (CLS)
- Familiar with FAA FAR Part 145 - repair and maintenance of aircraft
- Oversee modernization efforts
- The DSE shall be able to review programs from:
- Feasibility studies
- Develop capability assessments
- Develop requirements package
- Affordability
- Life Cycle Cost Analysis
- Cost performance trade-off analysis
- Trade-off studies/analyses
- RAM programs
- Root cause analysis
- Risk assessment
- Evaluate test results
- Prepare and develop budgetary estimates
- Be able to prepare and deliver briefings to management describing program status, issues, analyses, findings, results, recommendations, and conclusions as appropriate
- Can be the Technical Lead for a variety of Platform Working Groups, Technical Interchange Meetings and Integrated Product Teams (IPT). Additionally, the DSE will need to interact with a variety of personnel within the Fixed Wing Project Office that are non-technical.
- This DSE will be knowledgeable in fixed wing aircraft operations and be able to serve as a technical advisor to the Product Manager on all matters pertaining to worldwide operations, technical and program strategic planning.
- Provide guidance and assistance to junior and mid-level engineers in development and preparation of their requirements/budgetary efforts.
Minimum Requirements: - Must have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level
- Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience working Aviation/Fixed Wing projects
- Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS in performance of duties
- The individual should be self-motivating with the ability to work both individually and within a team structure

- Plan, organize, and manage complex ITA projects simultaneously while providing innovative and executable options to resolve challenging technical and programmatic issues
