Position Title: Bartender FTE: Various hours at part-time capacity Department: Food Services Reports To: Director of Special Events and Hospitality FLSA: Non-ExemptThis position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar patrons, interacting with customers, taking orders, serving drinks and assessing bar customers' needs and preferences while making recommendations at University events.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Verify the customers' age* Prepare and serve a selection of wines, beer, spirits, and mixed cocktails* Process payments* Wash and maintain clean glassware and bar utensils* Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences* Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift. Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits* Build a rapport with guests to create a positive atmosphere* Ability to complete orders quickly and accuratelyOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:* Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations* Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails* Understanding of unique and complementary flavor pairings* Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness* Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and be responsive* Ability to enforce company policies and state laws regarding the consumption of alcohol* Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments* Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods of time* Performs other work related duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS REQUIRED:* Be at least 18 years old* Meet criminal record requirements* There must be willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and name, address and telephone number of three references to ...@marianuniversity.edu.
