The C.H. Sandage School of Business at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, is seeking an
Assistant Professor of Agricultural Business to begin August 2025. This is a full-time, 9-month,
tenure-track position depending on the candidate's experience level, education, and overall fit
for the position. Candidates should possess at least a master's degree in Business
Administration and the credentials to teach Agricultural Business courses or a master's degree
in Agricultural Business and the credentials to teach Business courses. Strong preference will be
given to candidates with a PhD in Business Administration or Agricultural Business. The C.H.
Sandage School of Business seeks candidates with practical experience in the industry and/or a
record of teaching and service that highlights the school's three curriculum foundations: Global,
Ethical and Entrepreneurial.
Teaching responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load consisting of a wide range of agricultural
business and business administration courses with exact course assignments determined by the
area of specialty of the candidate. In addition to normal service activities, the successful
candidate will strive to find ways to advance Graceland's unique student experience and grow
the C.H. Sandage School of Business.
Key job responsibilities include:
1. Teaching: Design and deliver courses related to Agricultural Business including Sustainable
International Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Management and Markets, Global
Innovations in Crop Production and Soil Management and additional related subjects. Moreover,
create course materials, develop syllabi, hold office hours, and deliver lectures to undergraduate
students. Review and revise course content to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with
industry trends, academic standards, and ethical practices. Collaborate with other faculty on
program assessments.
2. Service: Serve as academic advisor and mentor to students. Help students choose courses,
provide guidance on career paths, and support academic and personal development.
Additionally, participate in departmental and university committees. Lead/Sponsor the
Agricultural Business Club. Promote growth in the Agricultural Business Program including: meet
with prospective students, coordinate large campus events such as FFA Day, manage agricultural
scholarship accounts, fundraise, and manage ag test plots to support the Ag Club.
3. Professional Development: Stay current in the professional field and engage in ongoing
professional development. This may involve attending conferences, workshops, seminars, and
more. Other examples may include: Engaging with professionals in the agriculture industry to
foster partnerships, internships, and job opportunities for the students, conducting research
projects and supervising student research, and engaging with the broader community by
providing agricultural literacy education, consulting for ag businesses, or participating in
outreach programs related to agriculture.
