Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced Prodcution Manager to lead and oversee the operations of our (location) facility. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of production, including team leadership, quality control, process optimization, and maintenance of UV, digital, and press machines. The Production Manager will drive production efficiency, improve workflow, and ensure that safety and compliance standards are consistently met. This role also requires expertise in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Label Traxx for operational planning and team collaboration.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Operations Director and is located on-site in Fairfield, NJ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide strategic direction and support to supervisors and production teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture. Recruit, train, and develop staff, ensuring strong bench strength and skill development.
  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Oversee production schedules to meet customer deadlines, balancing priorities, labor resources, and equipment availability. Work closely with the Operations Supervisor to optimize staffing and shift schedules.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement and manage Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and reduce waste across production lines.
  • Machine & Equipment Management: Oversee maintenance schedules for UV, digital, and press machines, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation. Troubleshoot issues and assess equipment needs for upgrades or replacements.
  • Quality Assurance: Partner with the quality assurance team to uphold product standards, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions when necessary to maintain high-quality output.
  • Safety & Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment that complies with OSHA regulations and company standards. Conduct regular safety training and maintain a culture of safety-first awareness.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of materials, maintaining optimal stock levels for production and managing supplier relationships.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control: Prepare and manage operational budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or production timelines.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Track and analyze production KPIs, equipment performance, and labor efficiency. Prepare and present operational reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, and Label Traxx to manage data, communicate effectively with the team, and ensure smooth project management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in operations management are a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in operations management within manufacturing or packaging, with hands-on knowledge of UV printing, digital, and press machinery. Previous experience in the labeling or packaging industry is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing, developing, and engaging a team.
  • Strong project management abilities, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Expertise in machine maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and working knowledge of preventive maintenance best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying areas of improvement, with knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Budget management experience, with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Label Traxx. Familiarity with ERP and other production planning software is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

  • Role involves work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and various temperatures. Some office work is also required.
  • Ability to move around the facility frequently, oversee equipment, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs if needed.
