The Logistics Assistant performs a variety of administrative duties while maintaining a high level of interaction with Sales Support, Regional Distribution Centers, Purchasing, and other departments in Kuhn North America, to facilitate domestic and international shipments. The Logistics Assistant provides support functions to optimize activities of the Logistics Department and transportation service providers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepare required documents for shipment of domestic and export orders to facilitate interstate movement and entry into destination country, for all modes of transit.
Obtain freight quotes with delivery options and coordinate international transportation and related logistics with freight forwarders and customs brokers at competitive rates.
Effectively communicate the status of shipments, Airway/Inland Bill Of Lading, Packing List, shipment configuration, and delivery dates, with proper contacts for timely product distribution.
Actively participate and contribute in the monthly logistics planning meetings for manufactured and distributed products with key RDC contacts by sharing issues and insights to optimize monthly freight and shipping performance.
Create, maintain, prepare and distribute correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, and confidential information as requested by the Logistics Manager.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations to ensure consistent compliance with US Customs/Border Patrol and foreign customs administrations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Provide administrative support for import and export Customs Compliance Program.
Coordinate inbound and outbound container traffic with Shipping Department.
Review freight invoices, allocate freight cost in business system and forward discrepancies to Logistics Manager for resolution. Including, but not limited to, reviewing of costing reports from 3PL manifest and Regional Distribution Reports.
Education/Experience - A high school diploma or GED is required. Two years related administrative assistant experience in an international sales/logistics function and an Administrative Assistant associate degree is preferred. Proficient keyboarding skills and knowledge of basic Microsoft Excel and Word, PowerPoint, Internet, SharePoint, OneDrive and e-mail functions is required. Experience in AS400 applications is a plus.
