Job Type Full-timeDescriptionValor Healthcare is looking to support the Miami VA Healthcare System with numerous contract RN positions. To include services in Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, Operating Room, or Dialysis Unit setting treating an all adult veteran population.Contract Details
  • 1 year contract with possible extension up to 5 years.
  • Full time work week on rotating shifts of 8, 10, or 12 hours.
  • The VA Medical Center is a 24/7/365 facility so weekdays, weekends, or holidays are needed.

Job responsibilities Emergency Department Responsible for patient triage and assessments, medication administration, performing and assisting with procedures; IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, discharges, external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, and emergency response procedures. The ED RN manages urgent/emergency care, mental health patients over the broad spectrum of disease and injury. He/she can assess intervenes in urgent and emergent situations to preserve life and limbs as well as manage episodic exacerbations of chronic disease.Critical Care Unit Scope of care includes patients who are critically ill or whose conditions require the intensive monitoring services of ICU, cardiac and are at risk of needing immediate intensive treatment including COVID and all patients requiring isolation. Treatment/procedures provided in the ICU include, but are not limited to, arterial line monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, central line monitoring, mechanical ventilation, ECG monitoring and interpretation, gastric lavage, pulse oximetry, pacemaker monitoring, administration of vasoactive intravenous medication, thrombolytic therapy, elective cardioversion, hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Intra-Atrial Ballon Pump (IABP) and Swan Ganz catheter monitoring and post-anesthesia recovery as needed.Mental Health Unit Responsible for patient assessments, BCMA medication administration, interdisciplinary team coordination, admissions, discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, withdrawal monitoring and management, and emergency response procedures, applying de-escalation techniques and Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMBD) strategies to help people manage their emotions and behavior, providing evidence based, individual support, such as cognitive behavior therapy principles for depression and anxiety.Operating Room circulate and scrub on a variety of surgical procedures including general, cardiothoracic, vascular, endovascular, plastic, ophthalmology, Genito urology, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, ear/nose/throat, and robotic. The scope of care of the OR RN is to have the ability to assess the physiological, psychosocial health status of the perioperative patient and support the care of the intra-operative and post-operative patients. Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN Skills will monitor post- operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia. Following the ASPAN Standard and regulatory standards.Dialysis Unit provides comprehensive nursing care to patients end-stage renal disease who are being maintained by intermittent with hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis in either a chronic unit setting or a critical care/acute care unit setting. Either area requires the nurse to provide treatment utilizing the nursing process, according to the written procedures and policies of the hemodialysis unit. The dialysis nurse is required to perform hemodialysis via a fistula, graft, or venous catheter.Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; if VA contract allows, may be Associate Degree RN.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a registered nurse in a Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, Operating Room, or Dialysis Unit.
  • Must have a active, unrestricted RN license in any US state or District of Columbia.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency - e.g., AHA valid for two years) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract.
