Whether you're looking to start, make a change, or advance your career, find your path forward at the City of Nampa to leave your mark on the legacy we will leave in our city and the world around us.WHAT YOU WILL DORole Statement for Elder Advocate:Advocacy work at the Nampa Family Justice Center (NFJC) includes multiple elements which include but are not limited to Assisting victims of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), stalking, child abuse (CA), elder abuse (EA) and sex trafficking (ST) with supportive services. Answering incoming calls, working well with partner agencies, and seeing to the needs and safety of everyone who enters the NFJC building. ROLE SUCCESS PROFILEEssential Functions:•Position entails but not limited to working directly with clients aged 50 and older who may have experienced trauma in domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), child abuse (CA), elder abuse (EA), stalking, and/or human trafficking (HT).•Educates aged 50 and over clients about resources and services that are available and helps them apply for those benefits.•Connect and build a working relationship with senior living facilities and social service agencies, to better help our aged 50 and over clients. •Strives to identify options to sustain the highest level of independence that is safe for each elder. •Provide direct advocacy and support to clients by conducting initial screenings to assess the client's needs and safety, (intake, risk assessment, safety planning) to develop service goals and a plan that assists clients in obtaining and/or refers them to those who can help them obtain appropriate legal, shelter, employment, transportation, financial assistance, counseling, medical and/or mental health services, and other services in keeping with assessed needs and established goals.•Answer incoming calls at NFJC and transfer them to appropriate parties. •Input client data in the data tracking system.•Assist with administrative duties as needed. •Know and adhere to safety protocols for emergencies.•Attend ongoing training and opportunities to understand trauma and the impact it has on victims and to learn more in the fields of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), child abuse (CA), elder abuse (EA), stalking, and sex trafficking (ST).•Attend Coordinated Community Response to Elder Abuse team meetings. •Maintain ongoing interaction with your supervisor, including articulation of any questions or concerns. •Ensure that all services are maintained following the agency's mission and goals.•Adhere to all NFJC policies, procedures, and safety protocols.•Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Additional Functions:•Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems. •Collaborate with and build and maintain positive working relationships with community members and partner agencies.•Responds to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner. •Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities. •Is punctual and timely in meeting performance requirements, including attendance standards and work deadlines. •Communicates information and states concerns clearly and professionally. •Respect the opinions of others and demonstrate a reasonable relationship with employees, supervisors, and others. •Accepts and performs changes in work assignments and/or how work is performed in a timely and effective manner. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:•Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Social Work major or related field preferred. •3 years experience and/or any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. Values and enjoys elders. Possesses and exhibits kindness, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude.•Bilingual - Spanish-speaking preferred.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:•Skill in using personal computers and MS Office Suite.•Skill communicating verbally and in writing.•Ability to Reason: Must be able to confront and solve practical issues and problems. These can arise in a variety of situations.
