Summary: The general function of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be to coordinate shipments and be primary receiving clerk, including fork truck and truck driving.Essential Duties:
  • Check all in-bound freight for damage, in conjunction with the Quality Control Department, and compare quantities on bills of lading to quantities actually received and to purchase order supplied by business office.
  • Compare packing slips from in-bound freight to purchase orders for accuracy and forward to supervisor. Report any overages or shortages to Floor Supervisor or designee.
  • Mark and coordinate all out-bound freight to insure proper and most economical transportation is used for out-bound shipments.
  • Assure that out-bound bills of lading and daily shipping logs are signed by truck drivers,recorded accurately and forwarded to supervisor.
  • Notify Q.C. when production material arrives at dock.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with Floor Supervisor, out-bound scrap to insure no usablematerials are being disposed.
  • Assist Floor Supervisor or designee on inventory control to insure adequatequantities of expendable supplies and equipment.
  • Pick up and delivery of supplies and products as needed for Plant 1, and keep maintenancerecords for Plant 1's vehicles.
  • Assist in the inventory of materials in storage.
  • Assist the production personnel in material handling.
  • Maintain shipping and receiving area and storage in a clean, safe and orderly condition in compliance with OSHA requirements and Plant 1's safety committee's regulations.
  • Forklift operation to insure materials are stocked at work stations, and dumping scrap hoppers as needed.
  • Driving a truck with a trailer to ship materials, and also to pick up items needed.
  • Maybe required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and if required lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Valid Driver's license with excellent driving record.
  • Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.

  • Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
