About Campus Activities
Campus and Community Engagement (CCE) fosters an inclusive and welcoming community while promoting individual growth and community values. Through a variety of departments such as Campus Activities, Sorority & Fraternity Life, and the Tatkon Center for New Students, CCE supports students at every stage of their Cornell journey with leadership opportunities, learning experiences, and co-curricular engagement. The Opportunity
The Administrative Assistant in Campus Activities provides essential support to the Director and departmental staff. This role ensures smooth operations by managing administrative tasks and serving as a key resource for the team. It plays a vital part in supporting the department's efforts to foster student engagement and development.
Key Responsibilities
* Utilize various communication methods to triage incoming information and manage responses effectively.
* Organize multiple calendars to ensure efficient scheduling and coordination.
* Provide support for events and meetings, including logistics and coordination.
* Coordinate high-level administrative activities and assist in setting priorities for administrative work.
* Advance and complete specific projects while establishing efficient office workflows.
* Oversee the Campus Activities student staff (7-10), including hiring, training, scheduling, and daily supervision.
* Serve as the first point of contact, professionally representing Campus Activities to stakeholders.
What We Need

* Associate's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Excellent computer skills, with experience using online software programs (e.g., Campus Groups) or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
* Proven ability to provide professional and courteous service consistently.
* Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects and meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
* Previous experience in activities and/or event planning.
* Strong judgment in handling in-person and electronic communications.

* Bachelor's degree or more than 4 years of relevant work experience.
* Ability to troubleshoot and apply creativity in addressing issues and finding solutions.
* Familiarity with or interest in working with college-age populations.
This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility as needed. The final schedule will be established in collaboration with the supervisor.
