DIRECTOR OF PERFORMING ARTS & LEADERSHIP SERIESCATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS/11BASICFUNCTION: Select, plan, market and manage the Performing Arts &Leadership events.START DATE: ASAP (Position will remain open until filled with first consideration given to applications received by October 18, 2024.)SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $59,300 to $74,100 based on qualifications and experience.Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical healthinsurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation andsick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans, and a variety ofadditional optional benefits.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business, management, event planning or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Highly organized with independent critical thinking skills and ability to work under pressure. Excellent conceptual planning skills.Ability to relate well with other professionals within the College and at other organizations. Knowledge of and ability to work within continuous process improvement systems. Demonstrated commitment to shared governance, consensus building, and team approach to management. Strong human relations and interpersonal communication skills to interact positively with diverse personalities and populations. Demonstrated experience in fundraising.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:•Plan and secure quality programming for the Performing Arts & Leadership Series. •Negotiate artists' fees, production costs, and catering on all events. •Work closely with vendors to fulfill contract production requirements. •Work collaboratively with external promoters/agencies, clients, and tours; regional and local tenant arts organizations; third-party service providers; government agencies and law enforcement; and with industry colleagues and professionals.•Hire and assist in the supervision of all show labor. •Maintain production schedules to meet deadlines and keep records of projects to ensure cost containment and competitiveness.•Supervise and evaluate the auditorium technician(s), other part-time employees and the Assistant to the Director.•Ability to sell sponsorships to underwrite the series. Identify and write grants for additional funding. •Develop an annual publication calendar and project tracking system. Plan, design, and produce College publications, including public relations, marketing/recruiting and advertising materials.•Proofread drafts of promotional materials regularly to ensure accuracy.•Develop effective advertisements for term beginnings, special events, job announcements, etc. Help produce electronic promotional appeals, including presentation templates and Home Page graphics, etc.•Work with area printers and suppliers for bids, printing specs, and approval of printing process.•Work collaboratively with staff on preparation of projects.•Identify the need for photography assignments in advance and work with photographers to produce appropriate, quality photos.•Perform other duties as assigned related to the position.Director of Performing Arts & Leadership Series must have the ability and mobility to travel throughout the College's district and some state and national travel. Availability to work on a basis of as work demands, rather than a fixed schedule, is required. Perform in a manner that strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
