Role Mission: As a Payroll Accountant I working for Rhodes, you will perform general accounting and payroll duties including providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing data and reports. You are part of the finance team and have an exciting opportunity to support the accomplishment of our organizational purpose to build communities and enhance lives of our customers and team. Measured Performance Goals:
  • % Overall payroll accuracy
  • # of Days completion of Payroll Journal Entries
  • # Days Completion for Monthly Payroll Reconciliations
  • # of Days for Month-End close
  • % Reports on time
  • # of Days for Credit Card Review and Audits
  • % Overall accuracy on Credit Card Journal Entries
Accountabilities:
  • Reconcile payroll, 401k and benefits accounts to General Ledger
  • Update General Ledger and book Journal Entries in the accounting system as needed
  • Book adjusting or reclassifying Journal Entries as needed
  • Create financial supporting schedules
  • Prepare monthly financial statements: Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet
  • Actively participate in the month-end process and preparation of Financial Statements
  • Prepare Fixed Asset schedules and depreciation tables.
  • Create and maintain pre-paid schedules and the related amortizations
  • Prepare and submit 1099's at year end or as needed
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Credit Card reports
  • Prepare Credit Card Journal Entries
  • Create and Maintain a Record Retention and filing program with appropriate coding
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing financial results as needed
  • Work in harmony with co-workers
  • Provide excellent customer service to team members and departments as needed
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:-NoneIndirect Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Train and develop new Accountants as needed
  • Improve Accounting Department's relationships with other Departments in the Company
  • Review Internal controls of the Accounting Department
  • Implement appropriate KPIs to measure the Accounting Department's performance
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 2 or more years of payroll processing and benefits reporting
  • 3 or more years of experience in General Accounting
  • Solid understanding and experience with Payroll cycle and related Journal Entries
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Good understanding of Financial Statements (Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet)
  • Experience with general ledger review and analysis
  • Excellent accounting software skills
  • Knowledge of Integrated Accounting software
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
