Assistant Project ManagerThis position is responsible for project management administrative support tasks and small project management for transmission and substation projects to ensure projects are completed on schedule and on budget. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel and as appropriate for current management level. Ensure all employees meet or exceed their required safety training (OSHA, First Aid, CPR, etc.).
- Partners with Safety dept. to investigate all accidents / near misses promptly and thoroughly, to ensure the incidents are communicated across the organization.Profitability:
- Manage billing & collections; bill customers monthly and as construction schedule allows. Manage billings for positive company cash flow. Track accounts receivable and manage late payments/past due accounts.
- Productivity: Facilitate constant process improvement in production and efficiency in our field labor. Implement prefab and other production improvement tools to consistently improve our labor production. Planning and Monitoring: Establish what is to be done a week-to-week basis, when, and by whom. Analyze and forecast factors that affect efficiency and results. Develop appropriate programs, strategies, schedules, and supervision.
- Develop safety and project pre-plans, review and approve crew time sheets and production, track financial performance, reserve and track bill of materials, initiate change orders, and engage in monthly financial project reviews.Share manpower, resources, and tools with all projects, departments, and branches as needed.
This position requires a decisive leader with a passion for hands-on work in outdoor environments and a strong drive for construction project management work. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately.EXPERIENCE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/Sciences, Engineering (electrical, mechanical, building science, etc.) or Two year technical degree in related discipline is preferred.
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity - both are non-negotiableBe highly customer-service oriented
- Prior experience in the electrical or construction field preferred.Ability to think independently, conceptually and apply practical solutions.
- Capabilities to self-start, display solid work ethic, and aspire to move ahead.
- The talent to act decisively and aggressively through positive communication with others.
- Be willing and capable of completing personal development plans for self and subordinates preferred. Desire to learn and grow personally and professionally required.
- Ability to effectively utilize basic Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves moderate manual labor in outdoor environments
- Ability to accurately multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain workloads that may include interstate and intrastate travel and daily time frames that could exceed typical business hours
- Demonstrable problem solving abilities
