  • Ability to perform a variety of recurring and related tasks using steps and processes that are readily understood and are associated with less complex components, equipment and systems.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labor in all weather conditions, operate/maintain various tools and equipment, and understand standard work processes as part of a team.
  • Work duties will generally consist of assisting with tree and brush removal/chipping, assisting higher skilled personnel with maintenance, repair, and construction, traffic control, hauling debris, digging with equipment or by hand, loading and delivering materials, basic assembly tasks, and other support as required.
  • Assists as general laborer, material handler, and equipment operator in accomplishing requirements related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of NRLP's electric and communications infrastructure. Follows all safety requirements during performance of the work.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position Ability to perform outdoor physical labor in all weather conditions, operate/maintain various tools and equipment, and understand standard work processes as part of a team. Work duties will generally consist of assisting with tree and brush removal/chipping, assisting higher skilled personnel with maintenance, repair, and construction, traffic control, hauling debris, digging with equipment or by hand, loading and delivering materials, basic assembly tasks, and other support as required. Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and determine various courses of action for in accomplishing work tasks. Follow all general and electrical safety requirements of OSHA and electrical and communications utility industries. Promote safety analysis and enforcement with peers, participate in all required safety training, and utilize all required safety tools/equipment. Must have the ability to operate University owned vehicles with valid driver's license. Will hold/obtain a CDL B and forklift license for equipment operation. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related utility experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Possess CDL B license. Forklift operator trained within 3 months of hire, CDL B within 1 year of hiring Type of Position Permanent Full-Time Staff/Non-Faculty Staff/Non-Faculty Appointment Type 1.0 Work Schedule/Hours Monday-Friday; 7:00 am-4:00 pm Some call backs related to after-hours tree clearing and major power outage restoration support. This position is considered MANDATORY. Number of Hours Per Week 40 Number of Months Per Year 12 Mandatory Staff Yes Physical Demands of Position Ability to push, pull, lift up to 100 lbs.; bend, stoop, climb, stand for long periods of time, work in a construction site environment in all weather conditions. Overall Competency Level Contributing Salary Grade Equivalency Salary Range Anticipated Hiring Range $33,540 - $45,000 Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
