QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent organizational and student supervision skills.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Ability and desire to work with students with disabilities.
5. CPR certification required.
DUTIES: (Include, but are not limited to)
Works with individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher, in the following academic areas: math, reading, language, writing, spelling, social studies, art, music, PE, etc.
Works with individual or small groups of students with non-teaching activities: supervision of breaks, lunchroom, errands, chores, field trips, community access activities, self-care needs, and independent living skills as directed by the classroom teachers.
Assists students in daily living activities as outlined on the IEP which may include changing diapers, assisting with bathroom needs, feeding, and performing health care procedures delegated to non-medical staff.
Assists students with make-up work when they have been absent.
Prepares and duplicates classroom materials.
Assembles and takes apart classroom materials for art, science, health and other subject areas.
Maintains student information forms or data sheets.
Corrects student papers, tests, workbooks, and homework.
Acts as job coach and transports students for Special Education.
Performs other duties assigned by the Principal.

~Excellent written and oral communication skills.
~Good computer knowledge, typing and time management skills.
~Ability to accept responsibility and deal with parents and teacher needs.
~Ability to interact with many grade levels, teachers, and principals.
~Ability to deal with unexpected schedule changes (i.e. stress related to job sites, etc.)
~Reconciling students to disgruntled residents (of care home) employees or supervisors.
~Handles decision-making and stress appropriately and professionally.
~Respects confidential information appropriately.
~Knowledge of and compliance with classroom/building policies and procedures.
~Ability to lift and assist students with necessary needs.
~Ability to work well with children, adults and community members.
