Position description: The Seattle Aquarium, a leading marine conservation organization, is looking for 3 Event Production Representatives to join the events team. Join the Seattle Aquarium as an Event Production Representative and become an integral part of our mission-Inspiring Conservation of Our Marine Environment. In this dynamic role, you'll work alongside our events team and key stakeholders to bring our diverse range of events to life. Your contributions will help ensure the success of our events while upholding our commitment to service excellence and conservation awareness. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with various departments, lead volunteer and event execution team members, and contribute to creating unforgettable experiences. This seasonal on-call role requires a minimum commitment of two 6-to-8-hour shifts per month, primarily scheduled during evenings, weekends, and holidays. By seamlessly blending event and production support, the Event Production Representative helps to ensure the success of Aquarium events while maintaining the highest standards of service and conservation awareness. The position reports to the senior managers of Event Production and Guest Experience Operations.Key functions: Oversight and Collaboration
  • Primary Event Lead: Serve as the main point of contact and representative for evening rental events, coordinating volunteers, security, maintenance, guest services, and other essential stakeholders to ensure an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests while maintaining the well-being of animals and habitats.
  • Collaborative Event Support: Train, coordinate, and support volunteers and staff throughout events. Partner closely with clients, vendors, and internal departments to foster seamless event coordination and execution that reflects our values of respect and inclusivity.
  • Event Reporting: Complete post-event reports, proactively address any issues, and escalate unresolved matters to maintain high standards of event quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Flexibility: Take on additional projects and tasks as assigned, contributing to a team-oriented, inclusive, and mission-driven work environment.
Guest Engagement and Education
  • Virtual Reality Experiences: Operate and facilitate virtual reality experiences during selected events, offering attendees a safe, immersive experience that promotes conservation awareness.
  • Animal and Exhibit Interpretation: As needed, share information about specific animals and exhibits, interacting one-on-one or with groups using microphones or other presentation tools, in ways that are accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
Technical and Safety Support
  • Audio-Visual Assistance: Provide support for audio-visual requirements by collaborating closely with the Aquarium's AV team to ensure events run smoothly and all technical needs are met.
  • Emergency Response: Act as a first responder for any urgent or emergency situations, taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of guests, staff, and animals.

  • Continuous Learning: Regularly update your knowledge of exhibits, animals, and any pertinent information to support guests' experience and maintain accurate event information.

Required skills and experience:The skills and abilities listed below may be demonstrated through a combination of relevant cultural and community programs, jobs, internships, volunteer experience, and/or formal or informal education.   • Experience in event support and supervisory roles, demonstrating skills in task management and team coordination.
  • English verbal and written proficiency are required for this role. Preference will be given to multilingual candidates (Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Lushootseed, or Japanese).
  • Personal and professional experience in managing conflict, de-escalating diverse groups of people, and promoting the well-being of impacted individuals in a respectful manner.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, manage multiple priorities, consistently complete tasks, and collaborate effectively with other Aquarium staff while demonstrating grace, resilience, and empathy.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional experiences and service, with an interest in conservation and education within an aquarium setting.
  • Committed to fostering a welcoming and enjoyable environment for guests and coworkers, and the ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
Working conditions:
  • Constant movement throughout the Aquarium campus, working in areas with moderate to loud noise levels and variable outdoor weather conditions.
  • Frequently operate a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator or telephone.
  • Frequently move equipment weighing up to 30 pounds across campus for various event needs.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders and maneuvers into tight spaces under tables and within equipment areas to maintain and adjust technical and event equipment.
  • Proficient in clear and engaging communication, adept at effectively conveying information both in constant one-on-one interactions and when presenting to diverse groups, including co-workers, the public, and individuals from various cultural backgrounds, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all communication channels.
  • Opportunity for paid training provided for CPR, first aid, and AED certifications. Completion of CPR training within 90 days of start date is recommended.
Salary and benefits: $22-24 per hour.
