Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation, review, and maintenance of accounting records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) policies and procedures.
* Assists with the daily functions of the accounting department
* Prepares and reviews monthly balance sheets, income statements and account reconciliations in order to analyze and ensure documentary evidence and financial transaction integrity.
* Prepares and analyzes monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
* Assists with financial reporting footnotes and disclosures required for SEC reporting.
* Assists with the review of financial statements and provides variance analysis.
* Ensures that financial statements are in compliance with GAAP, InnovAge policies/procedures and governmental requirements.
* Contributes mentorship and guidance to employees of the accounting organization
* Reviews current processes and procedures, and makes recommendations and/or changes as needed.
* Assists with the annual audit.
* Performs special projects as assigned or as needed.
REQUIRED
* Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college/ university
* Minimum of six years of accounting experience required
* Current and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and experience with establishing internal controls and process improvements.
* Strong computer and Microsoft Office Suite skills, with advanced Microsoft Excel ability.
PREFERRED
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or currently on CPA track is preferred.
* Experience at a publicly traded company
