Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Data Visualization & Analysis will develop data products for internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate must possess the qualities to plan and implement work in assigned functional areas. A successful candidate will be an organized self-starter who is passionate about public service and sharing data in a transparent and consumable way.Traveling to various schools in the city will be required on an infrequent basis. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analytics & Tool Development
- Support the development of a suite of analytic tools built primarily in R, Excel, Power BI, and Shiny;
- Develop new analytic tools and front-end visualizations for a wide variety of audiences;
- Support enrollment operations team on complex reporting and data analysis needs, including Flows and Reports in Salesforce;
- Develop and continually improve application cycle demand reports to better inform school planning decisions;
- Maintain and improve automated test suite to validate lottery output files and support vendors on implementing more robust long-term solutions;
- Support end users, including school staff, in utilizing all developed tools;
- Lead efforts to prepare student demographics data utilized in the District's differentiated funding model;
- Develop dashboards to support strategic communications from the school district to families;
- Prepare ad-hoc analyses and visualizations of system and school data as requested by internal and external stakeholders, including presentations for School Board members;
- Serve as a liaison for submitting and reviewing state data requests for custom files;
- Utilize open-source GIS software or scripting to develop maps and files as needed.
- Communication
- Communicate with external development team about system enhancements; and
- Create technical documentation for new and existing system functionality.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5 years of experience in data management required.
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Proficient in R, Python, or a related programming language, including libraries for data analysis;
- Experience with version control systems like Git and GitHub;
- Experience with Shiny, PowerBI, or other data visualization technologies;
- Comfort with analyzing, managing, and processing large sets of data; working knowledge of data systems and their underlying data architecture;
- Database management experience and Salesforce experience are a plus.
$60,400 - $89,485 a year

Performance EvaluationThe employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
