Compensation Data - Salary starts at $60,000 - $65,000 per year based on skills and experience
- Eligible for annual salary increases based on performance
- Sign-on bonus offered (up to $5,000)
Purpose of the positionTo perform and supervise service activities (refurbishment, upgrades, preventative maintenance and corrective actions) on MacGREGOR and equivalent equipment. Maintaining productive team and customer relationships as well as ensuring Best Practices are applied in all service related activities.
Main tasks and responsibilitiesEngineering Knowledge: - Stay up to date with technical developments (where appropriate related to new types of hydraulics, electrics, electronics, etc.- applicable to MacGREGOR equipment)
- Stay up to date with internal service bulletins and other technical information
- Stay up to date with technical specifications of MacGREGOR
Project Management: - Understand Customer/MacGREGOR/Branch/Service Manager's requirements and expectations
- Coordinate any subcontracted assignments and report any non-compliance
- Make decisions about required action up to agreed authority levels and communicate with Service Manager
- Clarify response and completion time required according to circumstances
- Understand scope of reporting required
- Edit personal daily activity reports
- Inspect daily activity reports of subcontracted team members
- Review onboard ship's spare parts inventory (if applicable)
Team Management:
- Delegate work to subcontracted teams
- Communicate and monitor all safety and quality requirements (person and site related)
- Conduct regular meetings with subcontracted team and superiors.
- Monitor performance and provide support
- Report and take any necessary corrective actions related to unacceptable performance, behavior and/or non-compliance.
Managing the Customer: - Understand and comply with the requirements of the Cargotec Customer Satisfaction Code of Practice.
Risk Management: - Protect self and others
- Follow all site safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
- Communicate information to Service Manager and Product Technical Support Department is equipment safety is jeopardized for any reason
- Protect and respect Cargotec/MacGREGOR and third-party properties (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment, etc.) and business activities
Service Process: - Inspect, trouble-shoot, report, plan and then conduct service repairs when necessary
- Submit high-standard regular reports as specified by the Service Manager
- Keep adequate records and maintain documentation in line with agreed standards
New Business Opportunities: - Recognize new business opportunities and communicate to local Branch Manager
What you'll need to succeedKnowledge, Qualifications & Attitudes: - Mobile, acceptable and able to work in variable physical site conditions
- Technical degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equal degree; equal skills & experience
- Previous Cargotec/Kalmar/MacGREGOR/Hiab Service Technicians must have been in Technician role for at least 12 months before promoting to Service Engineer
- Successful completion of required Cargotec/MacGREGOR training programs
- Fluent in English, spoken & written
- Medical First-Aid Certification
- Current motor vehicle driver's license with acceptable driving record

- Good practical technical knowledge related to MacGREGOR activities (e.g. Mechanical, hydraulics, electrics, electronics as required)

- Good hands-on skills as required for all kinds of mechanical operations
