The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor's Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation.The TxSSC is seeking candidates that are highly experienced in the field of school-based law enforcement and school safety and are interested in having a positive impact on the safety and security of Texas schools. This position will research, develop, and deliver training curriculum (to be delivered either in-person or on-line), technical assistance, job aids and other resources focused specifically on school-based law enforcement and school safety. Some of the job responsibilities include ensuring training and resources are current with the latest federal guidelines, Texas laws, and the Texas Governor's Homeland Security Strategic Plan. Additionally, this position will help develop and disseminate best practices and guidelines related to school-based law enforcement and safety in schools.
