This position will work in the Finance Department, located at City Hall. Currently, one (1) vacancy exists for this position. Depending on the applicant pool, candidates may be selected at either the I or II level. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for future vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next 12-month period. As an accountant, you'll dive into a variety of exciting tasks like balancing budgets, monitoring grants and collaborating with colleagues to solve financial puzzles. Whether you're preparing impactful financial reports or assisting with audits, your role will be instrumental in keeping the City's financial wheels turning smoothly. Minimum Qualifications A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is: Accountant I Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or a related field. Experience: No professional experience required. Accountant II Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or a related field. Experience: Two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in municipal or public accounting, similar to the Accountant I position with the City of Vacaville.
