A Design Director opportunity is available for an experienced professional to join our client's team in Boston, Massachusetts, on a permanent basis. This role involves leading and mentoring a team of designers to create a compelling AAA multiplayer experience within The Witcher universe. The ideal candidate will guide the design vision, foster a collaborative team culture, and deliver engaging, replayable gameplay experiences.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of design leads, mentoring leadership and fostering a collaborative environment within the design department.
- Guide and manage the delivery of a compelling AAA multiplayer experience.
- Present team work effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Set and communicate team goals, balancing near-term needs with long-term project objectives.
- Collaborate with other directors and shared services to coordinate development, UXR, and cross-team learning.
- Create an environment that embraces ideas and feedback from all channels, including internal developer input and external R&D findings.
- Guide the team in design excellence from concept through execution.
- Reinforce the project vision by establishing best design practices and processes.
You Have:
- A minimum of 5 years as a Lead Designer or Design Director in the games industry, preferably on AAA action or multiplayer titles with live ops components.
- Broad experience in game design, with specific expertise in 3rd person action games, multiplayer, or live operations.
- Strong leadership principles, honed through managing medium to large design teams, applied with empathy.
- At least one shipped AAA game in a leadership role.
- Creativity and curiosity, drawing inspiration from diverse experiences and inspiring the team to do the same.
- A passion for designing systems-based games that provide player agency and affect the world in meaningful ways.
- Excellent design sensibilities with an understanding of Good vs. Great and how to apply appropriate effort.
- Experience managing UXR processes and data.
- Ability to travel to Europe periodically for HQ visits.
- US work permit or citizenship.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with Unreal 4 or Unreal 5.
- Experience with cross-project collaboration, knowledge, and tech sharing.
