Position: Athletic Communications AssistantDepartment: AthleticsClassification: Part-time, non-exempt, grant-funded, on-groundReports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communication and Director of Intercollegiate AthleticsThe University of Sioux Falls, an NCAA Division II institution and a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member, seeks a motivated, energetic, and creative individual to assist the Athletic Department with communication, promotion, and game operations. Individuals should be able to work within a team atmosphere, meet desired deadlines, and be familiar with college athletics. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about college athletics, and gain experience with social media, videography, and photography in an athletic setting. The position USF is seeking to fill is Athletic Communications Assistant. It is a 4-5 month part-time, non-exempt position with a preferred start date of January 2025. The position is on-ground and grant-funded. The person hired for the position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Maximum grant funding for the Spring 2025 academic year.MAJOR FUNCTION
- Promote and enhance, through digital and social media, the image of the University of Sioux Falls Athletic Department and its 19 NCAA Division II programs across various platforms.
- Ideate and develop digital assets such as static graphics, motion graphics, introduction/highlight videos, display system graphics and more.
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of headshots, team photos, and videos highlighting all student-athletes and athletic staff for creative content.
- Assist the department in enhancing the athletic image and brand while working closely with USF's marketing and communications department.
- Facilitate in-game operations of social media platforms and score updates and reporting.
- Capture creative assets for highlight videos, social media posts, and other creative content for USF home events.
- Assist in archiving statistical data, photos, and video footage.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in sports media, marketing, graphic design, business, or related fields preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working within sports information or sports videography/photography is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier, After Effects, InDesign)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work within SIDEARM, NCAA Livestats, and StatCrew is ideal, but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines accurately necessary
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends required; travel may be necessary; valid driver's license and ability to pass a University-issued background check successfully required
