This person is responsible for correctly following all management guidelines and instructions as they relate to this position. In addition, independent thought and action are important aspects of this position. All work will be performed in a safe and sanitary manner. This person must be extremely flexible and receptive to continual change in assigned duties - including the ability to work different shifts. Additional hours will be required if needed. Working independently and efficiently managing his/her time are important components of this position. This person must communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager / Supervisor as to the progress of assigned duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Personnel in this position must continuously demonstrate the mechanical and electrical skills necessary to maintain highest possible plant operating efficiencies
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain all plant equipment and systems in order to repair or rebuild for efficient plant operations
  • Rebuild or repair plant vacuum pumps, gearboxes, valves, steam regulating valves, pneumatic cylinder controls, and all other types of pumps in plant operations
  • Repair forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Effectively perform maintenance and P.M. on plant CIP systems, AZO systems, mixing/dryer systems, chemical injection systems, air compressors, boiler systems, city water systems, ammonia systems, packaging, & handling equipment
  • Effectively perform industrial electrical testing and trouble shooting in areas such as: 4-20 milliamps, 12/24/48/120/240/480-volt circuits, pressure/selector switches, float switches, relays, changing of high voltage and control components of various plant motors
  • Repair and maintain all types of packaging systems, pressure systems, boiler equipment, process systems, and fixtures used in the operations - all in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and/or SensoryEffects Inc. standards and directions
  • Observe equipment in operations, evaluate performance issues, and make informed decisions on repair/replacement
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled - utilizing internal systems and procedures and/or equipment specifications
  • Fabricate equipment, following piping/equipment diagrams and equipment specifications
  • Obtain and maintain the required knowledge from manufacturer/equipment manuals and other resources required to complete maintenance tasks
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and work areas in an orderly and neat condition - free of all removable dirt and waste
  • Take all necessary measures to work in a safe and professional manner
  • Assist the Engineering/Maintenance personnel on internal plant projects and system installations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed by management/supervision
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Perform accurate calibrations on all required equipment including PLCs, valves, sensors, etc. REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must have GED or equivalent
    • Maintenance Technician personnel will attain an acceptable level of proficiency in all described areas of responsibility
    • Applicant must pass a written test with a score of 75% or higher in order to be eligible for the Maintenance Technician position
    • Must satisfactorily pass the DOA for this position within 1 year of successfully passing the written Maintenance Technician test
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Must be able to effectively follow all written and oral instructions, write clearly and in an organized fashion, and possess advanced communication skills and be able to effectively interface with Plant Engineering, Operations Management/Supervisors, and outside equipment vendors, suppliers, and engineers
    • Must be self-disciplined, a team player, and be able to handle emergency situations common to the position
    • Must be able to maintain and display personal cleanliness and follow all GMPs as described in company guidelines
    • Must be able to successfully perform all the duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor
    • Must exhibit independent initiative to solve problems and correct them
    • Will be proficient in all types of mechanical rebuilding; this includes valves, pumps, major equipment overhauls and repairs, etc.
    • Will be able to effectively troubleshoot and repair defects in plant boilers, city water systems, ammonia/pressure systems, air compressors, all canning/packaging and dryer operations
    • Will be able to diagnose and effectively repair problem equipment in all plant operational areas; this equipment includes (but is not limited to): powder conveying systems, heat exchangers, Reverse Osmosis system, dryer systems, canning/packaging operations
    • Will be able to effectively use electrical testing equipment and volt/amp meters
    • Will have advanced knowledge and application skills in industrial electricity and be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and machinery malfunctions
    • Will be able to rapidly read and understand piping, construction layouts, equipment specifications, troubleshooting charts/procedures, and other various diagrams
    • Will weld stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel in accordance with all government and company specifications WORKING CONDITIONS:
      • Continuous physical activity through the work day such as climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, hearing, talking, repetitive motion and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs., routine climbing of stairs
      • Operates various equipment such as computers, drafting equipment and instruments involving scientific meters and measuring devices
      • Must be able to distinguish colors
      • Regularly performs tasks in a plant environment, periodically with temperatures and noise above ambient level, proximity to high speed moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals that are constantly monitored
      • Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, gloves and other protective equipment as required
      • May be required at times to work in confined spaces
