Job Title: Manager, Instructional Design Department: Human Resources FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Senior Management, Talent Acquisition Prepared Date: June 2024 Reviewed Date: June 2024 SUMMARY The Manager, Instructional Design manages the instructional and program design strategy for the development and support of learning content delivered in various modalities. Manages the instructional design team driving training solutions to the business. Collaborates and Advises business leaders on creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer. Instrumental in assessing, implementing, and integrating instructional design concepts and learning technologies. The Manager, Instructional Design is responsible for delivering innovative and engaging leadership content. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Build and Manage a high-performing Instructional Design team with a focus on new courses and assessments. Advises on Instructional Design best practices and Works collaboratively with company leaders to set instructional end goals and create content that matches them. Oversees the creation and execution of instructional projects and Visualizes, plans, and creates instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product. Ensures team is meeting project deadlines and goals. Keep track of the strategic calendar for the team throughout the year. Manages KPIs for the Instructional Design team. Analyzes and applies trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design. Determines the best training modalities and develop learning experiences to address training needs. Conducts instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts to determine the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve company strategic objectives. Stay on top of innovative solutions and new industry trends. Applies tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods. Provides exercises and activities that enhance the learning process. Decides on the criteria used to judge learners performance and develop assessment instruments. Maintains project documentation and course folders. Evaluates program efficiency and continuously improves the solutions and programs the team is producing. Performs other related duties as assigned. Identifies Synergy for related content across the organization, recognizing patterns across training needs from multiple functional areas. Manages the policies and procedures of the instructional design team, continuously evolving and growing with business needs. Exploring alternative deliverable types to keep up with market trends and creating engaging content. Protects the companys assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk. Measurable Outcomes: Skilled implementation of technology software and learning platforms to create meaningful learning experiences relative to associate learning and development. Travels up to 10% of the time. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages the Instructional Design team for the organization. Responsible for the training, development, hiring, firing and performance management of the team. QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years of related experience. 2-3 years of management experience. In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Lesson and curriculum planning skills. Experience with course authoring tools such as Adobe Suites and Articulate. Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge. Visual design skills. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts. Strong time management and organization skills.
