About Stealth Bio

Stealth Bio is integrating novel computational biology approaches, human stem cell models of the brain, and programmable medicines to develop effective treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Our platform enables us to uniquely uncover disease-associated RNA biological processes with unprecedented resolution and to therapeutically modulate these processes with a high degree of specificity. We are a “science-first” company, from the very top of our organization - our CEO is a former Stanford physician scientist (MD/PhD) faculty with publications in Nature, Cell, Science, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Medicine, Cell Stem Cell, and others. We are blazing a new path forward in brain biology, from discovery through translation and into the clinic.

About the Role

Stealth Bio is seeking its first bench scientist to lead molecular biology and stem cell culture experiments at our laboratory located at MBC BioLabs. The scientist will design and execute advanced stem cell (hiPSC) culture protocols and differentiation strategies to support our drug discovery efforts in neurobiology. They will adapt and implement new single cell genomics profiling techniques in collaboration with other team members to investigate RNA processing (including but not limited to RNA splicing, RNA polyadenylation, RNA trafficking, and RNA turnover). They will interface with our existing computational biology team that will provide bioinformatics analyses from biological data generated, enabling rapid experimental iterations.

This role will have a major impact on the company's growth and success through their exceptional level of scientific rigor, speed at which experimental milestones are met, technical prowess at the bench and intense work ethic. Importantly, this scientist will be instrumental in solidifying a company culture that prioritizes camaraderie among members of our growing team. Success in the role will require tenacity, grit, and the ability and drive to accomplish key objectives effectively under tight deadlines.

These significant responsibilities will come with commensurate rewards, including competitive pay, equity, and benefits. As the first laboratory employee at the company, the individual in this role will have an outsize impact on the science, culture and vision for the company. As the team grows, the scientist will have the opportunity to become a senior leader, building teams and functions as the company evolves. We are looking for someone to grow with us, from incubation to IPO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize protocols for iPSC culture and differentiation
  • Lead iPSC-based projects, ensuring high-quality experimental design, data generation, and analysis, with a focus on rapid experimental iterations.
  • Implement QC protocols to assess cell quality, viability, and phenotype during iPSC maintenance, expansion, and differentiation stages.
  • Implement existing single cell genomics technologies, including but not limited to short read and long read platforms from 10X genomics, Parse Biosciences, PacBio, and Smart-Seq
  • Conduct tech-dev on proprietary single cell genomics technologies being developed by our company
  • Present findings, updates, and recommendations to project teams and senior management.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Genetics, Neurobiology
  • 1-3 years of postdoctoral or industry experience.
  • Strong experience and understanding of neurobiology and RNA biology.
  • Strong expertise in iPSC culture, maintenance, and differentiation techniques.
  • Proven experience in developing and troubleshooting iPSC differentiation protocols for various cell types.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, including PCR, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, qPCR, western blot, cloning and viral transduction.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening and single cell genomics methods (e.g. 10X Genomics or related platforms)
  • Experience with data analysis using Python or R is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present scientific data effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • Medical, dental and vision, with 100% of premiums paid by company
  • Additional benefits to be rolled out following raising of additional rounds of funding
