Job Summary:
The Install and Repair Technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunication services for residential and business customers. You will work hands-on with various equipment and technologies, ensuring that our customers remain connected in areas where dependable communication services are essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and test internet, phone, and IPTV equipment
- Install and maintain aerial and buried fiber
- Perform skilled duties related to fiber splicing
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
- Perform fiber facilities locates as needed.
- Interact professionally with customers to explain technical issues, equipment usage, and service enhancements.
- Maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor to ensure customer satisfaction and foster positive relationships.
- Accurately document all work performed, including installations, repairs, and troubleshooting steps.
- Maintain updated inventory records of equipment and tools.
- Ability to navigate and interpret standard telecom maps.
- Perform other duties as assigned by XIT
- Ability to be in an On-Call rotation
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training in telecommunications preferred).
- 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications installation and repair, or a related technical field is a plus but not required.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Comfort working in various weather conditions and rural settings.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, attics, and cold and hot weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work long and varied hours. The typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with an hour lunch. The minimum is 40 hours a week, with the expectation that job duties will be fulfilled and extra hours may be necessary
