Job DescriptionWomen's Leadership & Outreach CoordinatorThis position requires an active Secret clearance.The Women's Leadership & Outreach Coordinator supports S/GWI's active network, engagement, and outreach with women and gender leaders around the world.Compensation & Benefits:Estimated Starting Salary Range for Women's Leadership & Outreach Coordinator: $90,000 to $110,000 annualPay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Women's Leadership & Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and maintain an active network of S/GWI-related alumnae, connecting women leaders to each other and with the Department (S/GWI, ECA, relevant Posts) for ongoing collaboration, with at least one annual event to reinforce the network.
  • Create and systemize efforts for ongoing consultations, engagement, and communication between women leaders and civil society with U.S. interagency, White House, and Congressional stakeholders and policy makers, including respective regional embassies and missions, especially in response to urgent emerging and ongoing crisis and conflict situations.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify the voices and participation of such leaders and civil society in local and national-level decision-making processes; multilateral fora; and U.S. policy, programming, and public diplomacy efforts.
  • Establish a working methods memorandum in partnership with women and girl leaders and civil society identifying the intention, frequency, and impact measurements for engagement and consultation, including division of responsibilities between S/GWI, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and other Department stakeholders including the respective regional bureaus, embassies, and missions.
  • Support S/GWI's policy, global programs, and regional affairs teams to conduct stakeholder analyses and mapping, external consultations, [appropriate communications modalities,] and appropriate follow-up with participants - including maintaining records of recommendations and other outcomes of consultations, and tracking how recommendations are reflected in S/GWI's policies and programs. Ensure complementarity between, and non-duplication of efforts related to external consultations and engagements.
  • Develop a comprehensive S/GWI Outreach Strategy to include external engagement objectives, key moments and policy documents for consultations, and milestones and performance metrics.
  • Manage S/GWI's database of key external stakeholders and potential consultation participants, including but not limited to the Department's Contact Record Management (CRM) system.
  • Lead institutional reform efforts identified in the Department's Action Plan for the U.S. National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality related to increasing training, guidance, and tools for meaningful consultation and engagement with women and girls to inform and shape U.S. government decision-making.
  • Identify and establish an internal tracking system for both output and outcome/impact measurements for consultations and other engagements conducted with women and girl leaders.
  • Work closely with PPD's public affairs specialists to establish and maintain a repository of quotes, stories, and perspectives from women and girl leaders on U.S. foreign policy efforts to advance gender equality.
  • Facilitate coordination across S/GWI, the Department, and interagency to advance meaningful consultations through the Department's Equity Action Plan.
  • Supports other PPD tasks as needed, including but not limited to congressional engagement and broader partnerships and outreach efforts.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Women's Leadership & Outreach Coordinator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Master's Degree, or similar advanced degree, with significant study in, or pertinent to, the specialized field including, but not limited to, international relations, history, economics, management, business, administration, political science, and gender or a related field with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert in working at a high-level in civil society, has the trust and credibility to build a network of leaders and contacts, as well as leverage other networks
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and subject matter expertise in external relations and outreach, and relationship building and management.
  • Experience developing measurement indicators to track impact of outreach, policy, programs, and other efforts.
  • Knowledge of relevant subject matter such as women's rights, gender equality, and foreign policy strongly preferred.
  • Experience working for or with civil society, and/or women and girl leaders, on gender equality strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in the development and implementation of tracking systems and/or monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks is required.
  • English language (written and spoken) communication skills; additional languages a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks coordinate activities.
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance.
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation prior to hire.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
