Then, a PREP COOK role at Lobster Place Seafood Hall is a great opportunity for you!The Prep Cook is a full-time, hourly position in the Lobster Place kitchen at Chelsea Market at 75 9th Avenue. Candidates must be able to commit to the following schedule: Thursday through Monday from 8 AM to 3:30 PM. While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand for several hours at a time, walk, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift or move kitchen products and supplies up to 25 pounds. You want to learn and grow while balancing your personal life with a good-paying job.Role Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Prepares mise-en-place for kitchen workstations.
  • May work kitchen Garde manger station.
  • Maintains accurate prep lists.
  • Inspects and tastes all of the ingredients for quality control.
  • Presents excellent food for service.
  • Coordinates pick-ups and plating with other cooks and Chefs.
  • Communicate with Chefs and other cooks before, during, and after service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work area and maintains designated cooler space.
Qualifications:
  • Understanding and experience in restaurant hospitality and fine dining.
  • 1-2+ years professional kitchen experience.
  • Willingness to learn and retain knowledge.
  • Good time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Understanding of NYC health department codes.

Working Conditions:This job operates in a professional kitchen environment. This role routinely uses standard kitchen equipment including knives and appliances. Kitchen is small and efficient, and temperatures may be extreme. The workspace is on two levels and ability to use stairs is required. Minimal travel required.
