Summary

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing the Dispatch department, ensuring that operations are completed in a timely and high-quality manner. This role involves managing a team of Dispatchers and providing oversight, direction, and vision to elevate the department's performance. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership skills, capable of developing, training, and holding team members accountable through clear expectations.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in logistics, manufacturing, food production, or a related industry managing employees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven leadership experience, particularly in turnaround environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate emotionally charged situations.
  • Good understanding of OSHA, HR, and employment laws.
  • Knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and operational processes.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Self-starter who can act independently and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a big-picture perspective.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and motivational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observation abilities.
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and manage risks effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with operational teams, functional leaders, and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Supervisory and Management

  • Manage and supervise all employees in the Dispatch department.
  • Motivate and inspire team members to exceed expectations through recognition and coaching.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Hold team members accountable for meeting expectations.

Operations/Logistics

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, DOT, HACCP, etc.).
  • Investigate and document incidents and accidents as needed.
  • Monitor operations to ensure safety, security, and adherence to regulations.
  • Resolve issues related to transportation, unloading, or other operational processes.

Quality and Safety

  • Ensure all processes meet customer and organizational quality standards.
  • Enforce safety protocols and compliance with legal requirements.

Human Resources

  • Interview and onboard new team members.
  • Approve time-off requests and manage attendance records.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address performance-related concerns.
  • Mentor and coach team members, providing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
