Job Title: Intermediate Interior Designer

Classification: Salary, exempt

Starting pay: $80,000.00 annually DOE

Schedule: On-site 4 days, WFH on Fridays

Location: Soho, NY (Candidates must be currently residing in NYC metro or within a commutable distance to our office)

The Intermediate Designer will lead the project team and manage the design development of specific projects. They will also plan and execute presentations of these designs in graphic forms or detailed scaled models while working independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Manage the creation and execution of vision imagery to convey design concepts effectively

• Coordinate and oversee the sourcing of FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) for projects

• Develop and manage presentation boards to communicate design ideas clearly and persuasively

• Create and monitor project budgets

• Source, both hard and soft, materials that align with project design goals and quality standards

• Generate and maintain blue sheets outlining project specifications and requirements

• Attend client presentations, providing insightful design explanations and addressing client feedback

• Document meeting minutes to ensure accurate communication and project progress tracking

• Prepare and manage quote requests for procurement of design elements

• Oversee the logistics of deliveries, installations, and site meetings

• Coordinate on-site photoshoots

• Develop CAD plans and elevations, translating design concepts into actionable plans

• Correspond and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials

• Collaborate closely with the purchasing team to streamline procurement processes

• Update project ETA reports to reflect accurate timelines and milestones

• Create and refine 2D renderings to illustrate design concepts with precision

• Coordinate the production of 3D renderings to visualize design concepts for clients

• Review vendor shop drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications

• Coordinate with architects regarding finish schedules, plumbing schedules, hardware schedules, etc.

• Independently manage and oversee smaller design projects from start to finish

• Work closely with Senior Designers and Partners to contribute to higher-level design decision-making

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or similar field

• At least 4 years of experience working in a Design firm, excluding internships

• Ability to interpret construction data, engineering calculations, and specifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD required

• Basic knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred

• Experience drafting construction documents is required

• Must be comfortable in a support role and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision

• Must be able to multitask and possess strong time management skills

• Self-motivated to produce excellent work

• Highly organized with acute attention to detail

• Ability to accept directions and work well in a team

• Ability to handle the pressure of tight deadlines

Supervisory Responsibility:

This is not a supervisory position. This role will work collaboratively with positions in the same or different departments.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job is in an open space office environment with considerable background noise and disturbances.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. This is largely a sedentary role. This role would require the ability to lift and organize materials, and files, open filing cabinets and occasionally bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Other regular physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, stooping, repetitive motion, lifting not more than 15 pounds, reaching, and typing.
